Executive functioning, simply stated, includes the skills needed to get ourselves together to get done what we need to do. This session will focus on what executive functioning is and how the demands for executive functioning skills have changed over the past 20 years. This session will address the many notable changes from the classroom 20 years ago to today’s classroom. Techniques and tools for creating instruction and supportive environments will be discussed. Participants will learn about both low and high-tech tools for supporting memory, attention, organization, and time management throughout the interactive session. The process of feature matching will be discussed as participants learn about multiple tools to support each area of executive functioning deficit. Participants will leave this session with a solid understanding of executive functioning and how they can support students both in their classroom and in a digital environment.
